While there are exceptions to every rule, there are also behaviors that seem to differentiate most men from most women. One of them is shopping. To many women, shopping is a goal in and of itself. Women might say they are going shopping, but have no intention whatsoever of making a purchase. Most men, on the other hand, go shopping because they have to. They need a thing that they don’t have, so they go to the store to buy it and then leave. Men rarely engage in window shopping of just going to the mall for its own sake. Shopping, to them, is a chore, and an unpleasant one at that.
That’s why men prefer specialty stores. They don’t want to spend half an hour looking for something in the store, and they certainly don’t want to have to ask a store clerk for directions. Go in, get what you want, pay for it, and get out. A perfect shopping excursion.
On the web, it’s the same. When a man goes to a retail web site, he wants to be able to find what he wants, read enough information to make sure it’s really what he needs, and buy it quickly and easily. Let’s say for example, he needs an inscribed beer mug as a gift. He could go to some place like Amazon that has everything for sale, search around a bit, find glassware, then narrow it down to beer mugs, order it and then take it somewhere to have it engraved. There might be a place at the mall that does engraving…
Or, he could go to website like GlassWithaTwist.com. Glass With a Twist sells engraved glassware. From the front page you click on beer mugs and then type in the inscription you want or choose from one of the stock inscriptions provided at the site. Then you check out. Done. A few days later, the item arrives in the mail. He can even have it gift-wrapped before it is shipped with a click of the mouse. Again, a perfect shopping experience.
If you need etched glassware you go to an etched glass website. If you need new tires for your truck, you go to a tire store. It’s just that simple. On the other hand, if running out to pick up one simple item is an excuse to look at all the fancy outfits in the store windows along the way, then you might want to try someplace else.
