Spring Hill’s rich history is probably best known for the Battle of Spring Hill in 1864, a prelude to the Battle of Franklin. Today, Civil War enthusiasts have reenactments of this famous battle. Spring Hill’s first settlers arrived in 1808 and Albert Russell was the first person to clear land to build a home and the city was established in 1809. Take a tour through Rippavilla Plantation, originally home to Nathaniel Frances Cheairs IV in the early 1800’s, now a perfectly preserved museum open to the public. While the City of Spring Hill has changed dramatically since the first settlement in 1808, beautiful homes still stand amid the new development and give us a glimpse into the City’s rich and historic past.

The tour covers 90 miles and four counties and guides visitors to many antebellum plantations, homes and other historic sites, including President Andrew Jackson’s home, The Hermitage
The leading industries in Spring Hill are Manufacturing, Educational, Health and Social Services. The city was recently named the “Most Business Friendly City” by the State of Tennessee. The city is also home to Dawson McAllister Ministries, which broadcasts Dawson McAllister Live weekly on local radio stations. Spring Hill is a major center for the manufacturer of General Motors automobiles as well.
